Today Is A First Alert Weather Day: Count on occasional scattered rain and thunderstorms through mid-morning, but those storms are not likely to be severe. The chance of strong to severe storms is highest today from 9AM to 3PM, primarily over the southern half of our viewing area. The chance of severe storms increases farther to the south where a level 2 risk (on a scale where 5 is the highest) is in place. Strong gusty winds is our primary concern with today’s storms, but there is also a lower risk of hail and tornadoes, especially farther to the south.

We’ve Also Issued A New First Alert Weather Day For Saturday: Our confidence in the chance of severe thunderstorms for Saturday is increasing. There is now a level 2 threat of severe weather over roughly the southwest half of our viewing area, with a lower level 1 threat from St. Louis to the north and east. There is still quite a bit of uncertainty regarding the timing and location of storms Saturday, but the highest chances appear to be in the afternoon and evening as of now. Some forecast models bring some rain through in the morning which could decrease the chance of stronger storms later in the day. Check back over the next 24 hours for updates to this part of the forecast.

Sunday is a First Alert Weather Day: It is questionable as to whether storms will be able to develop Sunday, but if they do, there are now some signs that they could be strong to severe, producing large hail and damaging wind. We’ll keep a close eye on this and bring you updates as new data becomes available. Despite the uncertainty, we want you to be plugged in this weekend. Sunday is a First Alert Weather Day.

Monday Through Wednesday: Finally, a break in the active weather pattern! We’re looking forward to lower humidity and more sunshine.
