Judges request lawsuits involving toddler’s death at daycare be reassigned

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The legal battle connected to a toddler’s death at a daycare is continuing.

On Tuesday, the Judges who were slated to oversee the two wrongful death lawsuits of 3-year-old Conrad Ashcraft recused themselves as the case moved to the Missouri Supreme Court.

One case, brought by Conrad’s mother, Tara Williams, accuses Poppy’s Playhouse in Park Hills, Missouri, of causing the death of her son on May 16.

Conrad’s father filed the second lawsuit against the daycare, its owner and a daycare worker.

A criminal investigation is still underway. That case was moved from the St. Francois County Prosecutor’s office to the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s office on May 19. Officials stated that the owner of Poppy’s Playhouse was previously employed by the St. Francois County Prosecutor’s office for three prior istrations.
