White House releases new presidential portrait of Trump
(CNN) - The White House unveiled President Donald Trump’s official new portrait on Monday.
It shows Trump against a dark backdrop with part of his face obscured by a shadow.
While Trump’s face and hair are in sharp focus, his shirt and tie are slightly blurred.
Unlike past predecessors in their portraits over the decades, this one lacks a happy expression and an American flag in the background.
Instead, the president is wearing a flag pin with a different expression.
Printed versions of the new portrait are being hung in federal buildings. It now appears on the White House website.
The new portrait replaces an earlier one that was released around Trump’s inauguration in January.
That image resembled the mug shot he took in 2023 in Georgia after being indicted.
