Boy, 8, becomes 5th person to die after car crashed into after-school program building in Illinois

CHATHAM, Ill. (First Alert 4) - A fifth person has died after a car crashed into an after-school program building in Chatham, Illinois.

The afternoon of April 28, a vehicle crashed into the YNOT after-school daycare at 301 Breckenridge Road. Police said the vehicle hit multiple people outside of the building before going through the building and out the other side.

Three people who were hit outside the building and one who was hit inside the building were pronounced dead after the incident. Those victims were identified as 18-year-old Rylee Britton, Ainsley Johnson, 8, and Kathryn Corley and Alma Buhnerkempe, both 7.

Illinois State Police confirmed on Tuesday that a fifth person, 8-year-old Bradley Lund, had died at the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle, 44-year-old Marianne Akers, of Chatham, has not been charged in the incident.
