Neighbors doubting that a Disney-inspired mansion listed for $35 million will ever sell
HYRUM, Utah (KSL) - In a quiet Utah town, a mansion that recently went up for sale is turning heads and raising eyebrows.
The sprawling estate has everything from a “Star Wars”-themed theater that seats 65, to a replica of Disneyland’s tiki room and a 20-car garage.
The original listing price was a whopping $35 million!
But some neighbors aren’t so sure it will ever sell.
“We saw it being built and it’s such a big, beautiful home and it’s on such a big piece of land,” Kathy Schroeder said.
Schroeder has watched her neighbors build the mansion, starting in 2019, but that seemed to stop about two years ago.
“It was a big deal that in our little, teeny Hyrum, that there’s a $35 million house for sale,” Schroeder added.
Pictures have surfaced online of the listing by Summit Sotheby International that also show the Swiss Family Robinson-themed bedroom and more.
“I think they weren’t ever planning to sell it and it was going to be like their family retreat, but I don’t see people buying it,” Adam Berger remarked.
Berger lives in the subdivision just across the highway. He’s skeptical about the appeal, saying Hyrum is no Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
“It’s beautiful, but I don’t think it attracts the millionaires like the other places do,” Berger added.
The 40,000-square-foot home has an underground tunnel connecting it to the unfinished 20,000-square-foot pool barn and 20-car garage.
The underground raceway is not pictured in the listing.

Schroeder also runs the Cache Valley Buzz Instagram , which has hosted plenty of chatter about the mansion.
“People are kind of blown away by that because we’re kind of a rural kind of community for us to have a big house like that,” Schroeder said. “People don’t really expect that there.”
The listing price has since dropped to $19.5 million. It goes up for auction next month.
Potential buyers will have to make a refundable $100,000 deposit.
