Daycare closes 2 months after worker charged with child molestation
ST. LOUIS COUNTY (First Alert 4) -- A childcare center closed two months after an employee was charged with child molestation.
The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education received notice that Here We Grow Early Care and Education in Webster Groves is no longer providing childcare. The license to operate, however, has not been revoked.
DESE told the owner it planned to revoke the license this month. The owner appealed, and there is a hearing set for October.
Prosecutors allege Christopher Titus, an employee at the daycare, molested a child under the age of 12. The alleged abuse happened between January 2023 and August 2024. Titus worked there for seven years, according to police.
Titus was charged with two counts of statutory sodomy or attempted statutory sodomy with a person less than 12 years old and two counts of child molestation.
According to investigators, when questioned by police, Titus itted to the crime.
