FLORISSANT, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A man died after a home explosion in Florissant.

According to police, Michael Blankenship was in the process of manufacturing homemade pyrotechnic devices when an explosion occurred on Trinity Lane. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Police want to reassure residents that there is no ongoing threat to public safety. The St. Louis Regional Bomb and Arson Unit was called to assist Florissant police with the investigation.
