‘My brother killed my mother’: Teacher allegedly stabbed to death by 19-year-old son
CADDO PARISH, La. (KSLA/Gray News) - A Louisiana high school teacher and mother is dead after authorities say her 19-year-old son stabbed her multiple times in her sleep.
Deputies with the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office were dispatched at 2:11 p.m. Friday afternoon to a home in Shreveport after an individual called 911 and reported, “My brother killed my mother!”
Officials say 19-year-old Conner Lyons was sitting on the rear steps of the house when deputies arrived. They handcuffed him and advised him of his Miranda rights, KSLA reports.

Conner Lyons allegedly told deputies he was hearing voices and had stabbed his mother, 55-year-old Lara Lyons. He said he stabbed her three times on the right side of her neck with a knife while she was asleep, according to deputies.
Deputies cleared the house for officer safety and found Lara Lyons dead in her bed.
Conner Lyons was charged with second-degree murder and booked into the Caddo Correctional Center. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.

“Ms. Lyons was a dedicated educator, a comionate colleague, and a cherished member of the DeSoto Parish Schools family. Her commitment to her students and ion for teaching touched countless lives, and her absence will be deeply felt across our school community,” read the statement in part.
