Saturday: Morning showers will remain to the south, but these will clear by late morning. Expect cloudy skies and a range of temperatures today. Areas farther south, where the rain persists, will be slightly cooler, with highs in the 60s. Around St. Louis and in Illinois, temperatures will rise into the lower 70s.

Sunday’s rain chance is higher. Be prepared for scattered showers. It won’t rain all day, but there will be some soggy times in the morning and afternoon. There will be some rumbles of thunder, but no strong storms or severe weather is expected.

Monday (Memorial Day): It’s not a good day for the pool, with a 60% chance of rain and temperatures 10 to 15 degrees below normal for May. Expect highs in the upper 60s.

Rainfall totals through the holiday weekend are trending downward as the latest model data continues to push the heavier rain farther south and southwest. It’s now looking likely that areas from St. Louis to the north and east will see less than an inch of rain. 1-2″ is more likely just to the southwest of St. Louis, with slightly higher amounts possible from Rolla to Farmington and south.

Rain may linger into Tuesday before a generally drier pattern takes hold with a warming trend through next week. High temperatures should return to normal in about a week.
