2 teens charged in shooting that killed 18-year-old in North County

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Two teenagers have been identified after being charged in an October shooting that killed an 18-year-old in north St. Louis County.
According to St. Louis County Police, officers were called to the scene of 7000 Dawson Place just after 6 p.m. on Oct. 26 for a car crashed into a utility pole. Inside the car, officers found a teenager suffering from a gunshot wound.
Through an investigation, police learned that the victim was shot in the torso in the 7100 block of Dawson Place and drove down the block before losing control.
The teen was taken to an area hospital, where he died. Police identified him as 18-year-old Jacob Bell of North County.
St. Louis County Police announced on Nov. 21 that two male 16-year-olds were taken into custody on second-degree murder charges in the death of Bell.
Police conducted a homicide investigation, which led them to do a forensic review of the suspects’ social media, revealing that the two planned to rob Bell. Phone records also proved that both suspects were in the area at the time of the shooting.
On May 30, 2025, police identified the suspects as Kylen Evans, 17. and Zeon McDaniel, 17.
A doorbell camera nearby showed an individual with Zeon McDaniel’s build approaching Bell’s car, followed by another person, with the build of Kylen Evans, who creeps up to Bell’s car.
Both of them have been charged with second-degree murder, attempted robbery, and armed criminal action.
St. Louis County Police Department Bureau of Crimes Against Persons detectives are handling this investigation.
