Man shown on social media in handcuffs at Chiefs parade speaks out

OLATHE, Kan. (KCTV) - An Olathe man is stepping forward to let the world know he had nothing to do with the mass shooting at Union Station last week.
A picture of Denton Loudermill sitting on the ground with his hands behind him while police stand nearby has been widely distributed on social media.
People wrongly claimed he was involved in the shooting.
Monday, Loudermill and his attorney spoke out.
“I just want everybody to know that I’m an innocent person and whatever happened, I had no clue what was going on,” said Loudermill. “And I just want to give my condolences to the family and everybody. I want everybody to know that I am innocent. I have nothing to do with it.”
Kansas City Police on Monday confirmed he was not suspected in the shooting.
“He was there just like all the other Chiefs fans,” said attorney LaRonna Lassiter Saunders. “He was having plenty of celebratory drinks. And he didn’t move out of the police officers way fast enough. So they detained him on the curb, but they had him in handcuffs. And so people started taking pictures of him handcuffed on the curb, and it went from there.”
The photo made the rounds not only in the metro area, it garnered national attention as well.
Tennessee congressman Tim Burchett posted the photo on Twitter saying, “One of the Kansas City Chiefs victory parade shooters has been identified as an Illegal Alien.”
The congressman later walked back on his remarks, “It has come to my attention that in one of my previous posts, one of the shooters was identified as an illegal alien. This was based on multiple, incorrect news reports stating that. I have removed the post.”
But he doesn’t walk back from calling him a shooter and doesn’t cite any of the false reports he said led him to the claims.
“He wasn’t the shooter. He’s not illegal. He’s none of that,” said Saunders. “He’s just a Chiefs fan. Walk it back, walk it back with an apology, because not only have you ruined this man’s life, but now you have him receiving death threats.”
