Picture books can help children understand the real world and the real people around them and a new series is doing that through a super friend name Bill. St. Charles County neighbors Gretchen Lippincott and Lisa Lough are teaming up as an author-illustrator duo to create a line of books that introduce children to friends who may navigate our world in a different way. Their first book focuses on children who have different vision abilities. The second book in the series helps children understand friends who have diabetes.
For our second edition of Produced in the Bi-State, Taylor Holt spoke with Greg Cromer, an actor and a native of Manchester, Missouri. He’s best known for his work on FX’s ‘Better Things,’ but has made guest appearances on a myriad of television series over the past two decades.
Missouri author Chelsea Tornetto is celebrating Spring with two new children’s books: “Seasons on the Farm” and “Chalk the Walk.” A gray world comes to life with color thanks to the creativity of children and a spring favorite – sidewalk chalk. In her other new release, “Seasons on the Farm,” young readers are introduced to the farming families who work to put food on our tables. Tornetto ed Paige Hulsey to talk about how her own family, who were pig and grain farmers, inspired the book.
Having a baby is life-changing. Having a baby sibling is also life-changing. In the children’s book “Leo and the New Baby Challenge,” big brother Leo experiences a lot of big feelings when his little brother comes home. It’s a story a lot of families can relate to. Mariel Brechner, from St. Louis, and her sister, Jacqueline Brechner Vaisman, co-wrote the book. Mariel ed Paige Hulsey to talk about the experience that inspired the story.
