Kayaker drowns in the Current River in Shannon County

SHANNON COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) - A woman from Salem, Mo., drowned while kayaking on the Current River Sunday afternoon.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a strong current pushed the 63-year-old into a downed tree, causing the kayak to overturn. Other floaters pulled the woman from the water.
The patrol says she wasn’t wearing a life jacket.
