Man found hiding at QuikTrip after stolen car crashed on I-270
ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) - in
Grayson Collins, 19, is charged with first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, receiving stolen property and resisting/interfering with arrest for a felony.
St. Louis County police said that Collins was driving a stolen 2017 Nissan Murano on westbound Interstate 270 when it crashed into a guardrail on Wednesday, causing $1,000 worth of damage. When officers tried to arrest Collins after the crash, he reportedly ran off and hid in a nearby QuikTrip. He was later arrested in the parking lot of the gas station.
When Collins was arrested, St. Louis County officers said they found him to have a stolen gun and the keys to the stolen Murano.
Collins is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
