CALICO ROCK, Ark. (Gray News) - Authorities are looking for an escaped inmate serving a murder sentence, who is also a former police chief.

Grant Hardin was serving a 30-year sentence for first-degree murder when he escaped on Sunday from the North Central Unit Prison in Calico Rock, Arkansas. He is also serving an additional sentence for a rape charge.

Hardin was wearing a “makeshift outfit designed to mimic law enforcement,” according to the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

Multiple agencies are searching for Hardin and investigating his escape.

He is the former police chief of Gateway, a town in Benton County.
