WOODBURY HEIGHTS, N.J. (WPVI) - Emergency crews rushed to a chaotic scene Tuesday afternoon after a dump truck plowed into a home in New Jersey.

Dash camera video shows the dramatic lead-up of a dump truck on a collision course with a home in Woodbury Heights, New Jersey, going around 40 miles per hour.

You can see the path of destruction as the truck veered onto the wrong side of the road Tuesday afternoon. It took out a utility pole before the impact.

“Went through the front yards, never braked and just right into the house,” Patty Hudson said.

David Keating said he could hear his neighbor calling for help, screaming for help.

Keating wasted no time trying to help the homeowner.

“I was able to talk to him for about 10 minutes until the paramedics got there,” Keating said.

As for the driver, rescue crews freed him nearly three hours after he had been trapped. The owner of the truck company, Zeisloft Trucking, said his longtime employee suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel.

“He had no idea what happened. He had no idea. All he knows is that he was stuck in the truck. I said, ‘You’re down in the basement of a home. And I’m happy to hear that you’re OK,’ because he kept assuring me that he was OK,” Charles Zeisloft said.

Zeisloft said the 73,000-pound truck was loaded up with concrete sand.

The force of the crash destroyed the home. Crews demolished what was left.

“The whole house is shifted 4 feet off the foundation,” Keating said.

Hudson was walking with her grandson and had been in the path of the truck moments before.

“I’m still shaking,” she said.

Neighbors said it is a miracle the driver and the homeowner survived, but also that no one else was hurt.

“There’s just so many instances where it could have been so much worse,” Hudson said.
