MILLSTADT, Ill. (First Alert 4) - A Metro East post office has been renamed in honor of fallen U.S. Marine Corporal Matthew Wyatt.
Wyatt died after stopping a vehicle loaded with explosives from attacking his military base in Iraq in 2004. Since then, Rep. Mike Bost has spearheaded legislation to rename the post office in honor of Wyatt.
“Marines have a very unique brotherhood that you only know if you are a Marine, and to honor any of our fallen service is important, but as a Marine, it’s a very emotional,” said Bost.
At the renaming ceremony in Millstadt on Friday were Bost, of Wyatt’s family, USPS officials and more.
