2 St. Francois County men arrested for child sex crimes

ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Two men from St. Francois County have been arrested for child sex crimes.

Robert Rutherford-Sobol, 32, and Christopher C. Short, 24, were arrested this week following an investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control’s Special Victims Unit.

According to troopers, Rutherford-Sobol ed a sexually explicit image of child pornography in March 2025. He was charged on May 21 with one felony count of possession of Child Pornography.

In December 2024, Short reportedly shared an explicit video that was deemed child pornography. He was charged on May 21 with two felony counts of Sexual Trafficking of a Child.

Both suspects are being held at the St. Francois County jail.
