Suspect jumps from Chain of Rocks Bridge after leading police on pursuit
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A suspect jumped from the Chain of Rocks Bridge and is at the hospital after leading police on a pursuit overnight.
According to St. Louis County Police, officers tried to stop a vehicle for traffic violations around 1:30 a.m. The driver fled from police and a pursuit began.
During the pursuit, police say the driver tried to ram a St. Louis County police vehicle.
The pursuit ended on the Chain of Rocks Bridge, where two occupants from the car surrendered to officers.
The driver fled on foot, climbed over the bridge rail and threatened to jump off the bridge.
After officers tried to negotiate with the driver, he jumped into the water.
The driver was later found on the bank of the river and taken into custody. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
