Lightning caught on camera striking parked police car: ‘That could’ve been anyone.’

(Gray News) - Cameras caught the moment a lightning strike hit a parked police car in Newcastle, Oklahoma, causing a large cloud of smoke.

The Newcastle Police Department shared the video from Newcastle Emergency Management on social media.

The strike happened as a series of storms ed through the area.

While the department said no one was injured, Newcastle Emergency Management said in the post, “That could’ve been anyone.”

“If you hear thunder, you’re close enough to get hit. Get inside, stay away from trees and metal, and unplug electronics until the storm es. Take lightning seriously every time,” the post said.
