CITY SC to face Colorado Rapids in season-opener rematch
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - St. Louis CITY SC will head to DSG Park this weekend to face the Colorado Rapids.
It has been over three months since St. Louis last faced off with this club. CITY is still riding a club record 10-match winless streak in MLS play, and was recently bounced out of the U.S. Open Cup in horrifying fashion.

With a 2-7-5 record, St. Louis is No. 14 in the Western Conference. Its 11 points are tied with Atlanta United for the third-fewest in the entire league.
It also has the third-fewest goals of all MLS clubs and is in the bottom 10 for xG. The club does, however, land in the top half of the league in accurate shooting percentage and on-target scoring attempts, which points to the obvious overarching problem: finishing.

CITY’s leading scorer, Cedric Teuchert, has three goals. And despite having 29 total shots, with 14 on-target scoring attempts, Marcel Hartel has scored twice in the 14 matches he’s played in. Similarly, João Klauss has recorded one goal this year, with 22 total shots and nine on-target scoring attempts.

Rematch with the Rapids
Since playing in a season-opener that ended in a 0-0 draw and saw 17 total shots from CITY SC, Colorado has been able to put together a much more successful 2025 campaign.
The Rapids are in seventh place in the Western Conference with 19 points and are coming off a 1-0 victory over Real Salt Lake.

The lone score came from the foot of the club’s leading scorer, Djordje Mihailovic, who has six total goals on the year. He is ed by senior Brazilian forward Rafael Navarro, who has scored five times and leads the team in xG (6.8).
After starting May with three straight losses, Colorado collected its first points since April 26. They are 1-3-1 in their last five, and will look forward to another home match when facing St. Louis, as their last three wins have come in Commerce City, Colorado.
Kick-off is set for 8:30 p.m. at DSG Park on Saturday, May 24.
