Largest all-woman honor flight touches down in Washington

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - A band of sisters.
Wednesday marks the largest all-woman honor flight in history.
166 veterans from the upper peninsula - braving the rain in Washington.
Army Veteran Kathy Andel is one of them.
“We were some of the first women that got assigned to male units over when I was sent to ,” said Andel.
She answered the call of duty in 1970, back when it was still the Women’s Army corps.
“I wanted to serve my country”
For Christina Codd, who served as a Korean Linguist in the army, service is in her DNA.
“I come from a family of veterans. Both my parents were in, my grandparents were in. I was very patriotic and called to do it,” said Codd, “It’s honestly super amazing to see this many women. I know it’s the largest woman, one ever in the history. And it’s so cool that they all came from the Upper Peninsula.”
This is going to be far from the only all female honor flight organizers tell me that there’s already a waitlist for the next one.
