ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - North St. Louis continues to recover from the EF3 tornado that struck multiple neighborhoods Friday, and First Alert 4 found plenty of people lending a helping hand.

“Our last few days have been crazy,” said Keith Jefferson.

Keith Jefferson and Kendrick Henry were getting ready to deliver a truckload of goods to storm victims.

“As long as everybody is doing the little things, it turns into a big thing,” said Jefferson.

The duo, both part of the Prince Hall Freemasons, are using their manpower to deliver everything from canned goods to Pampers all over North City.

Even making informal stops on the street to those in need.

“Do you need diapers? He was like ‘man, yes’ so I just started handing diapers out of the window, handing Similac out of the window, so at this point it’s just helping everybody that needs help, it’s not an ‘I’ thing, it’s all about a ‘we,’” said Jefferson.

They say when the goods arrive, the faces of those hit hardest shine brightest.

“The fact that people are actually still able to have a smile on their face is unbelievable,” said Henry.

Elsewhere in North City, we found a group from northern Missouri clearing downed trees in strangers’ front yards.

And families coming together to keep their relatives dry.

“At least try to get it stable enough as we got all this rain about to come,” said Dominic Tice.

We found Dominic Tice plugging a large hole in the roof of his cousin’s father, trying to keep the place dry now, before the real work begins.

“Our hope is to try and rebuild but we just taking it one day at a time,” said Tice.

Tice’s home also has damage — but he, like many in the city, is going out of his way to help those that need the help even more.

“I am very proud of this city,” said Tice.

Of course, this rubble won’t all be cleared tomorrow — or even next month — but Jefferson says anybody can roll up their sleeves and pitch in.

“It’s not about race, it’s not about anything else, it’s about let’s get on top back where we are,” said Jefferson.

On Wednesday, Steve’s Hot Dogs — which had a location damaged by the storm — will be giving out free hot dogs to victims on Delmar starting at noon.
