St. Louis African Arts Festival canceled due to storm impact
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The 34th Annual St. Louis African Arts Festival, scheduled for Memorial Day weekend, has been canceled.
The festival was to be held at the World’s Fair Pavilion in Forest Park, but was canceled due to the impact of the tornado that hit the area on May 16.
“As much as we would love to have the Festival take place, safety for all who attend is our number one priority. The conditions of some of the streets, walkways, and sidewalks in the park at this time are not good and will take time to be cleared, according to reports. Therefore, the decision was made to cancel the Festival until next year,” said Gerald Brooks, Board Chair of The African Heritage Association of St. Louis.
Organizations are asking those who were signed up to volunteer at the festival to now volunteer at one of the City of St. Louis emergency relief centers.
