Man sentenced to decade in prison for shooting ex-girlfriend in the face
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A man has been sentenced to 10 years in state prison for shooting his ex-girlfriend in the face in January 2023 in the Benton Park West neighborhood.
St. Louis prosecutors said that 43-year-old Robert Harper was sentenced Monday on counts of first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action.
Harper and his ex-girlfriend had an interaction outside her home in the 3600 block of California Avenue when he shot her in the face with a semiautomatic gun. She was taken to a hospital for treatment for a gunshot wound to the face.
St. Louis Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore said Harper’s act of shooting the victim in the face was an act of “pure brutality.”
“Robert Harper’s actions were calculated and cruel, and there must be consequences for violence like this,” Gore said.
