ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The Saint Louis Public School (SLPS) district released a plan Sunday for parents and students after a tornado ripped through part of St. Louis City on Friday.

Schools that were not impacted by storm damage will be open on Monday, and students who attend impacted schools will be rerouted to other schools in the district, according to SLPS. The district says it wants schools to be a safe haven for students impacted by the storms.

“Parents are being informed of this information today to allow them to make the best decision for their families during ongoing recovery efforts,” the district said.

According to the district, their transportation providers will not be able to provide transportation because the bus depot has been impacted by the storm.

“Following Friday’s devastating severe weather and tornadoes that inflicted significant damage and tragic loss upon our City of St. Louis, including our schools and many of our staff, Saint Louis Public Schools remains deeply concerned for all those affected,” Dr. Millicent Borishade, the superintendent of SLPS said in a release. “Our hearts continue to be with every individual, family, and community member impacted by this disaster.”

Sack breakfast and lunch will be served to students at open schools. Breakfast will be available from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. and lunch will be served between 10:50 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. These sack meals will be available Monday through Thursday. Thursday is the last day of the school year for SLPS.

The district will be hosting a community outreach fair on Monday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the SLPS Central Office located at 801 North 11th Street. At the outreach fair, there will be consultations from district departments and community referrals, hygiene supplies, socks, underwear and sack lunches. The Little Bit Foundation will also be providing hygiene items, water and taking orders for clothing and shoes.
