Berkeley police are searching for person who hit a woman on Airport Rd. and fled the scene
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - First Alert 4 is getting new details on the moment a woman was hit by a car and left on the road. She is in critical condition in an area hospital.
This happened in an area police say is of concern when it comes to speeding, even after work was done to make it safer.
A woman was hit on Airport Road in Berkeley on Sunday. Video obtained by First Alert 4 shows the moment a car’s headlights light up her figure, a moment later, she’s hit, and the driver keeps going.
“There has been incidents in the past,” said Chief Art Jackson with the Berkeley Police Department.
Chief Jackson said this isn’t the first incident along this stretch of Airport Road, and neighbors agree, sounding off on social media.
“We can’t stop anything. We just want to curb it and hopefully people will be made aware that we are out there ticketing people for excessive speeding,” said Chief Jackson.
St. Louis County recently worked on 1.7 miles of Airport Road in an effort to deter speeding.
“It seems to have worked some but you’re still going to have your habitual speeders that speed for no reason,” Jackson said.
