Teen driver crashes Jeep over pier but miraculously lands on floating dock
PORT JEFFERSON, N.Y. (Gray News) - A teenager crashed a Jeep over a pier and landed on a floating dock, according to authorities.
According to the Port Jefferson Police Department, police responded to a vehicle that had crashed at Brookhaven Town Marina.
Authorities said the 17-year-old driver left the parking area, crashed through the railing and landed on the floating dock below.
The fire department was able to remove the driver from the dock and secure the Jeep.
Brookhaven Town Supervisor Dan Panico shared a surveillance video of the accident on Facebook, describing the driver as “inexperienced.”
“Every day, I wake up and never know what the day will bring,” Panico wrote alongside the video. “Moments ago, an inexperienced driver drove off the Port Jefferson Dock, and luckily onto a floating dock.”
The teenager had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
