DAVIS, Okla. (KXII/Gray News) – A high school senior in Oklahoma was killed in a car crash just one week before graduation, authorities said.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said 18-year-old Averiee Osmundson was driving to patient care training at Southern Tech when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed on Foothill Road early Saturday morning.

Troopers said her vehicle rolled over. She was thrown nearly 80 feet from the car and died at the scene.

Davis Public Schools confirmed Osmundson was a student at the high school.

“This devastating loss will be deeply felt throughout our entire school community, especially among the senior class of 2025,” the district said in a statement.

Counseling is being offered to students, and the school is planning to honor Osmundson during this week’s graduation events and senior celebrations.

“I think most of all just pray for her friends and family and our student body as we endure this loss and try to honor her and celebrate her every chance we get,” Davis Superintendent Jamea Gilbert said.

Gilbert described Osmundson as a “ray of sunshine,” always eager to help others and often spending her free time tutoring local elementary students.

“She always had a smile on her face every time I saw her, she was very quick to always smile, and she was such a solid, cheerful soul,” Gilbert said.
