Backstory STL #13: Jerry Naunheim

ST. LOUIS (First Alert 4) -- This week’s guest on Backstory STL is Jerry Naunheim.
He was a photographer at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for 25 years until 2007. His photography helped capture history locally and abroad.
He covered apartheid in South Africa and the war in Bosnia in the 1990s. Covering those issues sometimes proved to be a dangerous assignment.
We also talked about his life as a Catholic. After being raised in the church, he became an atheist for several years. He eventually found his way back, though. Interestingly enough, the news broke on the election of the first American pope as we were doing the interview last week.
