Sheriff says 6 charged in woman’s death, including minors, could be deported from the US
LANCASTER, S.C. (WBTV/Gray News) – Six undocumented immigrants, including three minors, were charged Monday in connection with a shooting that left a woman dead during an attempted robbery in South Carolina.
The deadly shooting happened just before midnight on May 2 along Riverside Road in Lancaster.
Officers said they found 40-year-old Larisha Thompson behind the wheel of her Honda Accord, dead from a gunshot wound.
Earlier in the evening, deputies said Thompson left her home nearby and headed to Rock Hill. She was alone. Family lost with her, began searching, and found her dead in her car.
“This shooting defies any sense of decency in a civilized society,” said Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile. “Ms. Thompson was going about her business on a Friday night, not bothering anyone.”

On Monday, the sheriff’s office said they had arrested six people in connection to the shooting.
Three people are being charged as adults, including 21-year-old Asael Torres-Chirinos, 18-year-old Jarby Ramos-Odari, and 17-year-old Jeyson Pineda-Salgado.
Each was charged with murder, attempted armed robbery and second-degree burglary. They are being held in jail without bail.
Additionally, three teenagers, ages 15, 14, and 13, were detained and charged as juveniles with murder, attempted armed robbery and second-degree burglary.
Their names will not be released since they are juveniles charged in family court.
According to the sheriff, all six are in the U.S. illegally and are facing deportation under federal immigration law.
“The Department of Homeland Security has placed detainers on these six,” said Faile. “That doesn’t mean the federal government will scoop them up and send them out of the country before their cases are heard in court.”
Investigators believe Thompson was a random victim of a robbery attempt. They also believe the group was responsible for an attempted burglary just days prior.
Reports stated evidence suggested all six suspects were in Torres-Chirinos’ car while he was in the front enger seat, armed with his pistol.
According to investigators, the suspect car pulled near Thompson’s vehicle as she drove on Riverside Road, and Torres-Chirinos opened fire at her car. Bullets struck and killed Thompson, officers said.
Torres-Chirinos is facing additional charges, including two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and one count of possession of a firearm by an unlawful alien.
