High school teacher accused of raping current and former students
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT/Gray News) - A Tennessee high school teacher is facing several charges of statutory rape.
The Knoxville Police Department said Chad Brooks, 32, a West High School teacher and coach, was taken into custody in Morristown on Friday.
According to Knoxville Police Department Communications Manager Scott Erland, the department had been investigating Brooks since early April after receiving word that he had inappropriate relationships with past and current students.
Brooks was indicted this week by the Knox County grand jury on multiple counts of aggravated statutory rape and statutory rape by an authority figure, Erland said.
Knox County Schools said Brooks is on istrative leave without pay.
School officials also said that his contract would not be renewed for the 2025-26 school year.
