ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - After a record-setting month of April, the rain has continued to pour down these first couple of weeks of May. The barrage of spring showers is causing problems for landscapers.

“Work slows down, you can’t do certain stuff when it’s wet,” said Lucio Cordova, the owner of Lucio’s Lawn and Landscaping LLC.

Lucio and his crew were re-patching and landscaping a yard on Monday, dodging the mud and puddles to complete the work. He says it’s a little difficult when April’s showers continue into May.

“For example, for my cutting yards, it’s been backed up for a couple of weeks just because it rains and I can’t go cut because the grass would be a mess,” said Cordova.

First Alert 4 Meteorologists say it was the wettest April on record. Spring rainfall is running roughly 5 inches above normal, which is like an extra month of normal rainfall.

“It’s really green compared to last year, it’s rained a lot more than last year and I feel like last year we didn’t get as much rain like in this season than we did this year,” said Cordova.

It’s a small setback that Cordova says he’s gotten used to.

“Last year was better, but that’s St. Louis weather,” said Cordova.
