College student dies after falling from balcony during senior trip to Bahamas

NASSAU, Bahamas (Gray News) – A college student fell from a balcony and died Sunday during a senior trip to the Bahamas, according to the university.

Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts, said in a statement to WCVB that one of their students died “in a tragic accident during the annual senior class trip in the Bahamas.”

The university identified him as Gaurav Jaisingh.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force confirmed an investigation into the death of a man from the United States who died Sunday.

Police said around 10 p.m., the victim was inside his hotel room on Paradise Island with other roommates when he accidentally fell from an upper-level balcony. He was found unresponsive on the lower floor.

Police said he was taken to the hospital but died during the ambulance ride.

Neither police nor the university provided further details as of Monday afternoon.
