9-foot alligator named Elvis wrangled away from preschool parking lot
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (Gray News) – A large alligator was removed from a preschool campus in Florida before any children got hurt.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, which serves the Tampa area, Elvis the alligator was spotted Tuesday morning outside FishHawk Early Learning Preschool.
Deputies said the gator was seen lounging in the parking lot when families arrived.
Deputies said they quickly stepped in to keep everyone safe and steer foot traffic away from the 9-foot alligator.
A certified trapper responded to the school and helped capture the massive animal. The sheriff’s office said the trapper relocated Elvis.
“Thanks to a quick response and teamwork, this king of the (swamp) jungle was safely removed,” the sheriff’s office wrote.
