CORALVILLE, Iowa (KCRG/Gray News) – A father in Iowa is accused of dangling his 4-year-old child over the water at the end of a floating dock during an argument with the child’s mother.

Johnson County deputies said the incident happened on Sunday at the Coralville Reservoir.

According to a criminal complaint, 26-year-old Devin Cariens Hook allegedly dangled the child over the water.

The incident led to a fight breaking out with several people, including Hook and the mother of his 4-year-old daughter.

The mom reported that Hook could not keep his balance and was afraid he would drop the child in the water.

The criminal complaint says Hook refused to provide a breath sample, but the “ambient air near his mouth” indicated an alcohol concentration of .129.

Hook has been charged with child endangerment and public intoxication.
