Doughnut shop owner shoots, kills armed robbery suspect, police say
HOUSTON (Gray News) — Texas authorities say a robbery suspect was shot and killed Thursday at a Houston-area doughnut shop.
The reported shooting happened around 6:15 a.m. at the Snowflake Donuts shop on Winkler Drive.
Police said when officers arrived at the scene, they found the suspect dead inside the business.
According to Houston police, the armed suspect entered the doughnut shop dressed in dark clothing in an apparent robbery attempt before being shot by the business owner, who was also armed.
KHOU reports the store owner is not currently facing any charges, but the case will be presented to a grand jury for review.
Police did not immediately identify the suspect but said they are checking to see if this robbery was linked to others in the area.
The suspect’s gun was recovered at the scene, and a cash was found open, police said.
The store owner was said to be OK after the shooting and none of the customers reported any injuries.
