Mark Scheifele won’t play in Game 6 against Blues

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - A key player for the Winnipeg Jets will not be facing the Blues in Game 6 of their first-round playoff series.
Center Mark Schefele left in the first period of Game 5 on Wednesday night with an injury and did not return. According to a report by Jets color analyst Mitchell Clinton, Schefele will not even make the trip to St. Louis. Clinton’s tweet reporting that information was later retweeted by the Jets official .
Schefele recorded 39 goals and 48 assists for a career-high 87 points during the 2024-2025 regular season. So far in the first-round series vs. Blues, he has recorded two goals and four assists, and is second on the Jets in points, behind Kyle Connor.
What led to Schefle’s injury was the topic of contention between two head coaches after Game 5. Schefele was hit by Blues captain Brayden Schenn in the first period and played several more minutes before leaving. After the game, Blues coach Jim Montgomery said he believes the injury came after a hit on Schefele by Blues center Radek Faksa.
Jets coach Scott Arniel later said he did not know “that Monty (Montgomery) got his medical degree.”
The Blues are looking to stave off elimination in Game 6 on Friday night at Enterprise Center, puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
The home team has won every game of the series so far.
