3 high school students killed in crash involving tractor-trailer, officials say
SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WHNS/Gray News) - Three high school students were killed and one person was hurt after a three-vehicle collision in South Carolina on Tuesday.
South Carolina Highway Patrol said a Dodge pickup and a Chevrolet coupe were traveling west when they collided with a tractor-trailer traveling south on Fairforest Clevedale Road in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Troopers said the tractor-trailer was trying to make a left turn on Blackstock Road when the crash happened.
According to officials, the three students in the Dodge were all killed. One of the teens died at the hospital. The driver in the Chevrolet was also hurt in the crash.
The coroner identified the victims as 15-year-old Daniel Diaz, 16-year-old Aben Sisk and 17-year-old Itzel Garcia-Trejo.
The coroner said all three teens were students at Dorman High School.
“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of three of our Dorman High School students, Aben Sisk, Daniel Diaz, and Itzel Garcia-Trejo, who were involved in a fatal car accident. Three lives, full of promise and potential, are gone far too soon,” the school district said in a statement.
