SPANISH LAKE, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A son is fighting to get his mother into safe living conditions, calling on First Alert 4 for help.

Dennis Shireff’s mother lives in Trinity Park Apartments in Spanish Lake. We’ve told you about this building before, as other tenants complained of unsafe conditions earlier this year.

“It smells like mold, it smells like wet carpet, the carpet is full of water,” Shireff said.

Shireff says the apartment is unlivable, and management won’t do anything about it.

Trinity Park Apartments is located near I-270 and Lilac Avenue in Spanish Lake. Shireff says his elderly mother, who is disabled, has lived there for 17 years.

“We just wanted to know why this was neglected, and my family was neglected, and my mom was really in a situation where she really could have been hurt, and yet I couldn’t get a call,” said Shireff.

First Alert 4 attempted to speak to property management, but the office was closed early for the day.

“I think that this apartment complex and management really needs to be looked at,” said Shireff.

Back in February, we covered the problems the complex was having, leaving tenants without water for days.

“You’re looking at a situation that’s detrimental to the health of the senior citizens,” said Shireff.

Shireff believes there is a hole in the roof of the building his mother lives in. Looking at drone footage, there is a portion of the roof that has a tarp.

Shireff says he had to carry his bedridden mother out of the apartment in the pouring rain, leaving her things behind.

“Unfortunately, I’m in a situation with my mom where we have to figure out how to get everything out of there and then put her in a place where she can relax but right now, she’s very tense and upset that she has to leave a place where she didn’t want to leave,” Shireff said.
