ST. LOUIS (First Alert 4) -- A few weeks after announcing its closure due to a lease dispute, Mom’s Deli is planning a move to a new location nearby in St. Louis’ St. Louis Hills neighborhood.

On Friday Denise Vago, the owner of Mom’s, posted about the move in a Facebook group Wednesday afternoon, writing:

“Great news! Mom’s Deli has secured a new location at 5425 Hampton Ave. it will take a few months to get everything the way we need it. As soon as I have an open date I will let everyone know! Can’t wait to get back open and see everyone soon!”

First Alert 4 confirmed with the building’s owner that Vago had signed a lease. The new space will be in the former site of Dado’s restaurant, another South City staple that closed earlier this year.

Several businesses in the growing SOHA district had heard the news and were excited about the iconic eatery’s move into the area.

Chris DePalma, the owner of Urban Candle and one of the founders of the SOHA Business District, said the move was one of several recent wins for the area.

This week, Dewey’s Pizza opened a location along Hampton at Delor. Another restaurant, the Breakfast Corner, will open across the street from Dewey’s in the next few days.

“There’s a lot of small businesses here. They’re the backbone of this community. We love being surrounded by the owners. It’s a beautiful thing,” DePalma said.

Cassie Bucio, one of the owners of the Breakfast Corner, said she was excited to start a new business in the growing district, too.

“It’s just a wonderful place to be,” she said.
