Tornado clean up continues one week later in Bridgeton neighborhood
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - From one neighbor to another, the Bridgeton community is ing forces to help pick up the pieces after a tornado ripped through the community last Friday.
When devastation strikes it’s those around you that help to weather the storm.
“It was pretty awful. This is awful. Any damage is awful,” said Tammy Bell, volunteer.
On Saturday, it was a community effort in Bridgeton as an EF 2 tornado rolled through just a week ago.
“I think the hardest part is seeing what has happened and knowing what they are going through,” said Bell.
For Keith and Tammy Bell, they know they pain of losing everything. On April 22nd, 2011, the Bell’s lost their home in Bridgeton to an EF 4 tornado.
“My husband popped his head out of the basement and he kept saying it’s gone and everything was gone. Everything,” said Bell.
Now 14 years later, the Bell’s and many others are picking up the pieces.
“There were so many people that came and helped us and we wanna pay it forward,” said Bell.
“It’s really wonderful that we have such a great community coming out to help each other, be ive and help each other through this trauma,” said Gretchen Luke, Bridgeton resident and volunteer.
Neighbor to neighbor, it’s a reminder that beauty can come from a storm.
