ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Justin Perkins tells First Alert 4, “I’m a photographer, so I go around in different nightlife environments and I take pictures, capture the moments, and for me, it was supposed to be a big day.”

March 14, also known as 314 Day, turned into a nightmare for Perkins. He says after getting set up to take pictures at the Grand Zodiac Lounge on North Grand, he went outside.

“I went out, went out to, you know, look for the customers on my way back in, I was struck by a car that was purposely trying to by traffic,” says Perkins.

He was knocked unconscious.

Perkins says, “The next thing I after is waking up on the ground and the patrons of the Zodiac over me like it was a bunch of people over me telling me to calm down, letting me know that I just got struck by a car.”

He claims witnesses at the scene described to him what happened soon after.

The photographer tells First Alert 4, “Apparently the driver stopped and got out of the car, looked at me and then got back in the car and drove off.”

First Alert 4 reached out to St. Louis Metropolitan Police (SLMPD) for details about the hit-and-run.

They responded saying, “Just before 8:30 p.m. officers were flagged down by a witness stating the man was walking in the center turning lane when he was hit by a maroon sedan, who left the scene.”

Perkins has been released from the hospital.

He must wear a neck brace and use a walker. He is also in the process of learning how to walk again and recover financially.

“It’s been terrible, you know, 100% of my money comes from me being able to move around for me, being able to be a chameleon. Now I’m just I‘m stuck here,” says Perkins.

He is hoping the person who hit him will come forward.

A GoFundMe has been set up for the entrepreneur.
