CITY SC scores 3 to beat LA Galaxy, earning 1st win of the season

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - St. Louis CITY SC scored three goals Sunday against LA Galaxy to bring home their first win of the season.
The match started at 6 p.m. at Dignity Health Sports Park in California. The final score was 3-0 St. Louis CITY.
CITY scored their first goal in minute 44. There was chaos near LA’s goal line as the California team attempted and failed to clear the ball. CITY forward Cedric Teuchert took advantage of the chaos to earn CITY’s first goal of the season.
Four minutes into the second half Teuchert made a long to Marcel Hartel, who battled past an LA defender and met the back of the net with a shot off of his left foot.
Simon Becher, who came off the bench in minute 62, scored CITY’s third goal of the night with six minutes of regulation time left.
Sunday’s match is goalkeeper Roman Bürki’s third straight clean sheet. Bürki and the CITY defense have not allowed a single goal in 2025.
Sunday’s clean sheet was well earned by CITY’s keeper, with Bürki making eight saves that kept the LA offense shut down.
With the loss, LA Galaxy becomes the first reigning MLS champions to lose the first three matches of the next season.
CITY entered the match looking for both their first win and their first goal of the 2025 season. CITY’s first two outings of the season have both ended in a 0-0 draw. On the other hand, LA lost to both San Diego and Vancouver to start their season.
The last time the two teams faced off was on Sept. 1, 2024, when CITY took a win.
CITY will return to Energizer Park on March 15 for a match against Seattle.
