Report: Chiefs trade All-Pro offensive lineman Joe Thuney to Chicago

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The most heralded Chiefs offensive lineman of the last three years has a new home.
Kansas City traded three-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman Joe Thuney to the Chicago Bears on Wednesday morning in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The Chiefs signed Thuney as a free agent after he spent four years with the New England Patriots as a left guard. Thuney had won two Super Bowls with the Patriots before g a five-year, $80 million deal with Kansas City.

Playing at an All-Pro level from 2022-2024, Thuney proved to be a versatile weapon for the Chiefs offensive line, sliding to left tackle for the second half of the 2024 season. He earned a Pro Bowl nod in each season and was named first team All-Pro from 2023-2024, and second team All-Pro in 2022.
He helped anchor a line that took the Chiefs to three consecutive Super Bowls, winning two championships.
As the Chiefs have devoted a significant portion of their 2025 salary cap to the offensive line, including guard Trey Smith ($23.40 million), center Creed Humphrey ($10.79 million) and tackle Jawaan Taylor ($27.39 million).
Thuney was set to make $16 million in 2025.
