ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - St. Louis CITY SC finished their season opener Saturday at Energizer Park in front of a sold-out crowd with a 0-0 tie against Colorado.

Despite CITY leading with 18 shots, with five of those on goal, against Colorado’s two shots with no shots on goal, CITY wasn’t able to make the ball hit the net in front of the home crowd.

During the second half of the match, CITY fans got to see one of CITY’s newest players in action. Alfredo Morales, whose g was announced on Friday, entered the match in minute 69.

“Really tough games coming up,” CITY’s head coach Olof Mellberg said to the press after the match. “We need to improve in all areas. Even though it was a really solid defending performance, we can improve there, as well.”

CITY will hit the pitch again on March 1 against San Diego at Snapdragon Stadium. The match will start at 9:30 p.m.

Pre-game

Saturday’s match will be CITY’s first game in their newly renamed stadium, Energizer Park.

The last time CITY faced Colorado was in a new formation.

According to the MLS Player Status Report, Jake Girdwood-Reich and Jay Reid will both be out for this first game for an ankle and foot injury respectively. Chris Durkin was listed as questionable with a knee injury.

The season-opener kicks off at 7:30 p.m. at Energizer Park.
