St. Louis area grocery stores get ready for winter weather
“I am trying to get the groceries I need so that I can be comfortable at home”
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Local stores are seeing plenty of shoppers grabbing the things they may need for a few days.
“I am trying to get the groceries I need so that I can be comfortable at home and possibly also prepare for my son to be home from school,” said Beverly Wagner, a St. Louis resident.
At Schnucks in Swansea, the store manager tells First Alert 4, that he’s been preparing for the storm for at least a week.
“We have an additional snow order that we put into effect that we placed last Saturday so we increase a large portion of our everyday items that usually get grabbed up the most,” said Matt Wedding, the store’s manager.
With Valentine’s Day on Saturday, Wedding says people have been stocking up, just in case the weather puts a damper on their plans.
“With Valentine’s approaching, we’re definitely seeing an increase in cupcake and strawberry sales,” said Wedding.
“I picked up groceries to make soup, vegetables, snacks for my son, and... ginger ale to make myself a gin and tonic,” said Wagner.
Both Schnucks and Dierberg’s will be open on Wednesday.
