Mayor Jones apologizes for snow response at candidates forum
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Voters in the city got to meet candidates looking to lead St. Louis.
The Southwest Garden Neighborhood Association hosted the mayoral forum at the St. Louis Activity Center.
The city’s snow response was the hot topic.
Sabrina Skerston tells First Alert 4, “I was really concerned with how the city handled the snow. I was trapped in my house for 6 days”
Mayor Tishaura Jones addressed the issue during her introduction apologizing to residents.
“I am sorry that our city services didn’t meet the bar during our winter storm. I am sorry that it took too long to pivot,” said Jones.
Her challenger, Alderwoman Cara Spencer was critical of the current istration’s handling of the winter storm.
“This last snow storm wasn’t a B minus,” said Spencer.
Throughout the night, residents stepped up asking the tough questions.
Michael Butler, the City’s Recorder of Deeds touting his office’s employment record while giving his plan when asked how to attract city workers.
Butler says, “I believe in quality or quantity.”
BUSINESSMAN ANDREW JONES SHARING HIS THOUGHTS after a question was asked about the Rams settlement.
“It should go for distribution toward equity toward infrastructure. Pocket the rest,” says Jones.
The three candidates running for Comptroller also shared their plans with those in attendance.
The primary municipal election will take place on March 4th.The general election is set for April.
