Warming shelters available for unhoused in St. Louis City
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The City of St. Louis is opening additional warming shelters. There is still a demand for warm beds.
Helping dozens of unhoused people escape the blistering cold is Peter and Paul Community Services’ goal.
The work to open this facility began last week when the forecast predicted the winter storm.
Using a donation from a donor who wanted to remain anonymous, the space in South City was transformed.
Peter and Paul Community Services’ CEO, Anthony D’Agostino says this is a long-term problem that needs to be addressed.
D’Agostino tells First Alert 4, “Coming in and having a warm place, meals, having services that that is exactly what they need to become more sustainable.”
With another round of snow expected to fall, the shelter plans to stay open until Saturday.
