NEW ORLEANS (WVUE/Gray News) – Surveillance footage reveals the exact moment a terror suspect hit the gas and drove a truck through a crowd on Bourbon Street in New Orleans early New Year’s Day.

The terrifying video obtained by WVUE shows the truck, which the FBI said was driven by 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, slowly creeping along with traffic down Canal Street.

Then, once the truck approaches Bourbon Street, it briefly pauses before taking a quick, sharp turn onto the famous road. It byes a police cruiser that was parked as a protective barrier, barrels into a crowd of people, and continues down the street at a high speed.

Immediately, the crowd is seen panicking and rushing to the aid of victims who were hit.

Authorities said the Islamic State-inspired terrorist attack left at least 14 dead and dozens injured, some critically.

The suspect was shot and killed by police.

As of Friday afternoon, 11 of the victims have been publicly identified by family and friends. They range in age from 18 to 63, but most were in their 20s.

The FBI is investigating the event as a terrorist attack.

The Greater New Orleans Foundation has started a donation fund for the victims’ families.
